Website rescue

Websites rescued, not rebuilt.

Slow, hacked, unfindable, or abandoned by whoever built it — most struggling sites don’t need a rebuild, they need a competent, focused week. Fixed price, written diagnosis first, and if a rebuild genuinely is the cheaper answer, we’ll say so and credit the diagnosis against it.

Typically from £900 – £1,200 · 1–3 weeks · fixed price agreed before we start

Who this is for

Anyone whose site quietly embarrasses them: it was fine in 2021, the developer has vanished, the plugins multiplied, and now it loads like it’s thinking about it. You don’t need to know what’s wrong — finding out is the first deliverable.

What usually brings people here

01

It loads like it’s thinking about it

Every second of loading costs a real slice of visitors, and half of yours are on a phone with two bars. Speed is usually the cheapest fix with the biggest payback — and it’s almost never the design’s fault.

02

The person who built it has vanished

Logins lost, hosting a mystery, the domain renewing on someone else’s card. We untangle ownership first: your domain, your hosting, your accounts, your name — so this can never happen to you twice.

03

Google can’t see the point of it

No structure, no speed, no answers to what people actually search. The findability basics — titles, structure, sitemap, speed — are boring, checkable, and where most neglected sites leak.

How we go about it

It starts with a written diagnosis: what’s wrong, what it costs you, what fixing it costs, in plain English — not a jargon-fog invoice. Then a focused fix in priority order: speed first, security second, findability third, ownership throughout. Most rescues land between £900 and £2,400 and take one to three weeks. You get a handover note a future developer will thank you for — and if you want it looked after from there, the care plan takes over from £39 a month.

What you get

Included

  • A written diagnosis of what is actually wrong, first
  • Speed: the site loading in under two seconds on a phone
  • Security: software updated, backups running and tested
  • Findability basics: titles, structure and sitemap sorted
  • Ownership untangled — domain, hosting and logins in your name
  • A handover note the next developer will thank you for

Not included

  • A redesign — this makes the current site work, not look different
  • New pages or features (happily quoted separately)
  • Miracles for sites that genuinely need rebuilding — we say so instead

One we built

Our founder’s own DJ site is the standard a rescue aims at: loads in under a second on a phone in a barn on two bars of signal. That isn’t a rebuild budget — that’s competence applied in the right order.

Questions we get asked

Can you rescue a WordPress site?
Yes — WordPress, builder sites, old custom builds. The diagnosis tells you honestly whether yours is worth rescuing on its platform or cheaper to rebuild, and the fee is credited either way.
Do we have to move hosting?
Only if the hosting is part of the problem, which it often is. If yours is decent we leave it alone — the goal is fewer moving parts in your name, not our preferred stack.
What if the site is beyond saving?
We say so in the written diagnosis, with the reasoning, and the fee counts toward the rebuild if you do it with us. The one thing we won’t do is polish something that’s costing you money.
Is this just an SEO audit?
No — audits describe problems, rescues fix them. Findability is one strand alongside speed, security and ownership, and you get working improvements, not a PDF of red boxes.
